What is Rockbox

Rockbox is another Opensource OS for the ipod and other mp3’s. It lets you play Music, Mpeg videos…lets you play Gameboy and Gameboy color games and more!

How do i install?
It is very simple!

First: Get the latest build of Rockbox for your iPod Video.. which can be found here http://build.rockbox.org

Second: on your desktop, Make a Folder Called Rockbox. Make it to put all the files there and make it simple!

Third: After you have downloaded the latest build of rockbox, Extract the .Rockbox folder into your iPod root.

Fourth: You have to install the bootloader so download it here http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/ipodpatcher/win32/ipodpatcher.exe
Make sure your ipod is plugged..

Start the installer and the program will search for the ipod
After it found it, Press I and enter… after that Congrats you have Rockbox on your iPod! Eject it with itunes or anything and wait for it to reboot. it’ll reboot in rockbox!

If you want to switch OS, Just reboot the ipod by pressing Menu + center, till the screen turns black and switch the hold button! and thats it PS: it will take at least like 30 seconds for the appler os to load so dont worry

Finding songs in Rockbox

Simple as well

Go on rockbox if your not on it

then go to settings-general settings-file view-show files-music—–> click center
After go to settings- general settings-database-load to ram-yes
last step: go back and press initialize now
and reboot

your songs will be under the Database option!

Intalling themes!

Alright since the normal Rockbox theme is pretty ugly, you can download one and install it! this is how you do it

First go to http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIpod5g and download the theme you want! Make sure it isnt written SENAB at the bottom of the pic. Please download only Themes from 2008, the other one doesn’t works.

After you downloaded it, Extract it into the Rockbox folder on your desktop

Now open the .rockbox folder and open the first folder and drag and drop the file inside that folder into the folder with the same name on your ipod.. i dunno if you get it… you will once you download the file.

After Disconnect and go on rockbox… now go on settings—>Browse theme–>and select the theme you downloaded! everything should change!

Adding Fonts to Rockbox!

Very simple to do!

Just download this and put all the files inside into the font folder in rockbox on your ipod! http://download.rockbox.org/daily/fonts/rockbox-fonts.zip

Playing GB and GBC games on your ipod!

Again this is very simple… make a folder called Roms in the ipod directory NOT IN THE .ROCKBOX FOLDER.

Then Download any GB or GBC rom and put it in that folder

Eject your ipod and go on rockbox…. go on Files—–> Roms—–> the game you wanna play and press center… it should load

Die Installation ist sehr einfach!

Erstens: Holen Sie sich die neueste Version von Rockbox für Ihren iPod Video .. der kann hier gefunden werden http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/ipodpatcher/win32/ipodpatcher.exewerden kann. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Ihr iPod eingesteckt.

Starten Sie das Installationsprogramm (Ipodpatcher.exe) und das Programm wird den iPod suchen.
Nachdem er den Ipod gefunden hat, drücken sie I … Herzlichen Glückwunsch Sie haben RockBox auf Ihrem iPod installiert! Werfen sie ihren Ipod mit iTunes oder einem anderen Programm aus, und warten bis er neu startet. Nach dem Neustart des Ipods wird er mit Rockbox starten.

Wenn Sie das OS wechseln möchten genügt es dass sie den Ipod durch Menu + center neu booten. Wenn der Bildschirm schwarz ist sperren sie kurz den ipod mit der “Hold” taste die sich oben am Ipod befindet und entsperren gleich wieder. Nun startet ihr Ipod wieder mit der Orginal Apple Firmware. keine Angst wenn er 30 Sekunden dafür benötigt.

Wo finde ich Lieder auf dem RockBox?

Gehe im Rockbox Menü auf settings-general settings-file view-show files-music—–> click center
Danach gehe zu settings- general settings-database-load to ram-yes
letzte Schritt: gehen Sie zurück und drücken Sie initialize now
und rebooten. Ihre Songs befinden sich jetzt unter der Option “Database”

Rockbox Themes installieren!

Da die Standard RockBox Themes nicht besonders schön aussehen, können Sie sich eigene Themes installieren! Dies funktioniert folgendermaßsen.
Zuerst gehen Sie zuhttp://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIpod5g und downloaden sich das Thema das ihnen gefällt. (Achtung: Da sich im neuen Build grundlegende Dinge im Code geändert haben funktionieren nicht mehr alle Themes. Am besten laden sie sich Themes die 2008 erstellt oder geupdatet worde sind.)

Nachdem Sie das Theme heruntergeladen haben, extrahieren Sie es in den RockBox Ordner auf Ihrem Desktop

Nun öffnen Sie den .Rockbox Ordner und kopieren per Drag & Drop die Datei innerhalb dieses Ordners in den Ordner mit dem gleichen Namen auf Ihrem iPod.

Danach trennen sie den Ipod, starten Rockbox neu und gehen in das RockBox Menü. Dann auf settings—>Browse theme–> und wählen das Thema das sie heruntergeladen haben!

Hinzufügen von Fonts!

Einfach die Schriften von http://download.rockbox.org/daily/fonts/rockbox-fonts.zip
downloaden und in den entsprechenden Ordner auf ihrem Ipod in das .Rockbox Verzeichnis kopieren.

GB (Game Boy) und GBC (Game Boy Colore) Spiele auf dem iPod!

Dafür erstellen sie einen Order mit dem Namen “Roms” auf dem iPod. Nicht im .Rockbox Verzeichniss, sondern ausserhalb. Anschließend kopieren Sie alle GB oder GBC Roms in diesem Ordner.

iPod auswerfen, neustarten und in RockBox auf Files—–> Roms—–>das Spiel Sie spielen möchten auswählen, Enter drücken und das Spiel solltre geladen werden.
